About Tennis Valley

Tennis Valley in Chatswood / Castle Cove is one of Sydney’s finest tennis clubs with excellent court and clubhouse facilities, strong competition teams and a thriving social calendar. We’re perhaps best known as a warm, friendly place to play.

That culture extends throughout every level of membership. Though we have as many or more members than any other club in the Northern Suburbs, it doesn’t matter if you have a world ranking or you’re fighting it out against rival clubs in the grade that suits your standard on Saturday afternoons, everybody happily says “g’day” to each other… and means it.

Tennis Valley is a true club in every sense of the word… a non-profit co-operative built on fun and friendship and a place where you feel you belong. Tennis Valley provides a range of membership options so that whatever your situation, your requirements are covered. Whether you prefer competition or social tennis; mid-week or weekends; day or night play… there’s a category of membership just right for you.

And with a fully licensed bar, 10 quality synthetic grass courts and members across all age groups and standards waiting to welcome you, what better place could there be to enjoy the best sport in the world?

Management Committee

Though with a proud history dating back more than 50 years, Tennis Valley is a modern, progressive club that embraces tradition but moves with the times. We have a strong online presence that provides all the information our members require to enjoy their tennis to the full.

Our President, James Stormon, heads a Management Committee featuring a real cross-section of the club in terms of ages, genders, experience, playing standards and skill sets. The committee regularly implements new initiatives, such as flexible membership options (including a new trial monthly membership), social events catering specifically for different age groups, a convenient online payment facility, etc., always seeking to add to member benefits.

We realise that most people these days are ‘time poor’ and so have looked at ways of reducing tennis commitments, such as compressing the time allocated to run Club Championship events and working with the NSTA to offer flexible times for competition play. The current committee comprises dedicated club members, willing to serve (pun intended) and always looking to add value to Tennis Valley membership.

Club History

Tennis Valley has provided sporting facilities and services to the local community for over 50 years. The tennis club has been situated at 325a Eastern Valley Way since 1982, originally sharing the site with Valley View Bowling and Recreation Club and supporting that organisation for 15 years after its insolvency. Initially a small clubhouse and four courts were built, with two more courts added in 1984. A further two were built in the 1990s and two final courts were completed in 2001.

Since then we have dramatically evolved this wonderful site to reach its present status as a source of pride for the local community.

Tennis Valley proudly boasts the highest rate of court usage of any tennis centre in the Willoughby Council area, with over 1,000 local residents making use of the facility every week. We cater to all ages and a wide range of ethnic and economic backgrounds and by almost any measure we’re the most successful tennis club in the district.
